Community Supper – Dec. 2012
For the past five years, Addison Central Teens has been hosting the local community supper on a Friday night in March and December. Together with ACT staff and volunteers, members of “94 Main” cook, serve and clean-up for the 160 community members who eat at the Middlebury Congregational Church each Friday.
This past December ACT board member and chef Chuck Root and his teen sous chefs cooked spaghetti with tomato sauce and meat sauce. Thanks so much to the Foxcroft Farm Harvest Program in Leicester for donating the meat! Some teens set the tables and served the crowd while another team of teens came to clean up after the supper was over.
Then they all headed over to the Middlebury Municipal Gym to set up for the Techno Dance at which teens from the ACSU school district listened to music and danced. The music was provided by the teens themselves who created playlists (music mixes) with the help of DJ Dizzle who has been teaching teens the art of DJ’ing for several years now. Addison Central Teens has been hosting four to five dances a year, including the annual Halloween Dance at the Town Hall Theater since 2007. The teens plan, organize and implement these special events with great enthusiasm and fun.
